Abbey & Garret – Wedding in Kewanee, Illinois – May 13, 2017

Family first. It’s something we say, and often mean sincerely, but I saw it on display firsthand at Abbey & Garret’s May wedding in Kewanee, Illinois.

Shortly after I photographed their engagement session last summer, Abbey & Garret found out that they would be blessed with someone joining their family shortly before their wedding. Their joy was evident from the moment they found out, and it was incredibly touching how they involved baby Major in their wedding day. Garret held Major in his arms the entire time that he was at the front of the church with Abbey. They also had a surprise for their guests – they had planned with the pastor to have baby Major baptized during the wedding ceremony, with all of their closest friends and family there to witness it. It was perfect.

During their engagement session, I learned that Abbey & Garret have very unique style that they fully embrace and show the world. Their boot collection is fantastic! I got a hint of this at their engagement, but I was able to see the collection on full display at the reception, as they used boots filled with various wildflowers for their centerpieces.

One of my favorite things about Abbey & Garret’s wedding is how they made it personal, choosing to keep traditions that they felt were important, and creating new traditions. It was a fantastic day spent celebrating their beautiful family.
